"Turn" (after Lewis Hine) is an original framed acrylic painting on cradled panel by Philip Gladstone
  • After Lewis Hine's iconic 1920 photograph "Powerhouse Mechanic"
  • Framed in a float-style wooden frame that features a hand-applied finish suggesting the appearance of painted metal that has rubbed away and oxidized; the painting has been mounted to project forward from the frame approximately 3/16", enhancing the trompe-l'œil relief, medallion-like effect of the work
  • Made with artist's acrylic paints over an iridescent gold (acrylic) ground on a 3/4 inch deep cradled wooden panel
  • Image measures 12 by 12 inches; the overall framed size is 15-3/8 by 15-3/8 by 2 inches
  • Created in June 2022
  • Signed by the artist with his monogram (PG), lower left/center; signed again with his full name, dated and inscribed with the title on the reverse
