"The Yearning" is an original mixed-media work on paper by Philip Gladstone
- Made with charcoal, white chalk and ink washes with scraping and touches of pen-and-ink, white gouache and colored pencils, on gessoed Canson brand drawing paper
- Artist's note: Made with wet/dry mixed-media on archival paper, evidences of the process of making "The Yearning" are visible when seen in raking light (such as the varied texture of the gesso ground, and slight ripples in the sheet); not evident in ordinary lighting conditions, these features in no way detract from (many connoisseurs of works on paper might argue that they enhance) the unique beauty and aesthetic interest of this one-of-a-kind, original work View in extreme raking light ↗
- Image measures 14-1/4 by 10 inches ( ≈ as shown, sheet slightly larger)
- Created in August 2022
